Tina Cook coaches at Stonar

Olympic Silver Medallist, Tina Cook, visited Stonar on Wednesday 6th February to deliver a day of clinics to pupils. Tina Cook was part of the British Olympic eventing team, taking silver in London 2012 and individual bronze in the 2008 Beijing Olympics. A full time eventer since the age of 16, she also took team gold at the World Equestrian Games in 2010 and has represented the UK in 10 European Championships

21 pupils took part in the clinics which were split in to groups of four according to ability.

Tina's focus was on preparing the girls for cross country jumping. Tina said "We've been focussing on learning to keep a rhythm going, as well as control and balance so the girls are prepared for jumping out in fields. I've also been looking at how to manage change of pace."

Stonar runs a comprehensive programme with external visiting trainers including household names such as Mary King, Yogi Breisner and Di Lampard. This is the first time Tina Cook has run a clinic at the school.

"We were delighted to welcome Tina to Stonar today. Stonar is committed to training the young riders of the future, and providing access to world class trainers such as Tina is an important part of this," commented Darrell Scaife, Director of Riding.

"Stonar provides a truly unique equestrian experience. Director of Riding, Darrell Scaife, and his experienced team, aim to provide the highest quality teaching and preparation for competition from the absolute beginner to the national competitor. Our desire is to ensure that every rider will become the very best they can be. An U18 NSEA team who are currently national champions and two individual NSEA national champions bears testament to this. We believe in developing all aspects of horsemanship so that both hobbyist and aspirational rider will be fully prepared for a lifetime's love and involvement with horses," said Toby Nutt, Head.
