1st places for Stonar at West Wilts Champs

With no fewer than four cross-country events taking place at Stonar over the last week, it has been a very busy period for our runners.

As well as hosting both the Primary and Secondary West Wilts Area Cross-Country Championships at the school, we have also held our inter-house cross country competition and the Stonar Stampede.

West Wilts Cross Country Championships

Absolutely sterling efforts from our pupils saw our girls teams win all of the Secondary West Wilts events; Minor Girls (1st), Inter Girls (1st) and Senior Girls (1st). With strong individual performances, there were also a number of individual placings:

Minor Girls
Hannah Browning 1st
Aoife Hughes 3rd

Senior Girls
Bella Shaw 1st
Emily Gerrish 3rd

This is notably impressive, with around 300 pupils from schools around the county competing in the event.

We also had some good individual successes in the Primary event.

Inter-house Cross Country

The inter-house cross country involves pupils from Years 3 to 13, running over courses varying from 1,200m for our youngest runners up to 5km for our older pupils. The level of enthusiasm is always impressive and the event is hotly contested. Senior, Prep and Whole House results alike were as follows: 1st place: Kennet, 2nd place: Farleigh, 3rd place: Avebury.

Stonar Stampede

We were pleased to welcome runners to the Stonar Stampede on Saturday. The event includes the Wiltshire Junior Race League 2K event, which several of our pupils took part in and we were delighted with several first places for the following pupils.
Under 17 Girl: Sophie Bazan, Stonar
Under 13 Boy: Joe Wills, Stonar
Under 13 Girl: Hannah Browning, Stonar

A special mention to, for Stonar parent Michelle Coveney, who won the Stonar Stampede 5K event.
