3rd place for Stonar debaters

Our junior debating team braved the winter rain to do battle with six other Wiltshire schools at Corsham School.

Emmi Cook, Anna Watson and Hermione Titcombe presented a witty and well-researched presentation on the important issue of… ‘Biscuits’ - which is the nation’s favourite and whether to dunk or not dunk - all presented with aplomb by Emmi. A hallmark of the talk was the thoughtful and adept way in which audience questions were answered.  It was impressive to see Stonar pupils dealing so well with a range of speaking challenges, both those which could be rehearsed and those which required on-the-spot articulacy.

Very pleasingly, our team was placed third in the competition (eight teams in total) and will represent the school in the next round of the competition at Frome Market  next week. Well done girls, we are proud of you.
