Aims & Values

Long-established values, modern education.

The question most often asked by prospective parents and pupils is what makes Stonar special? My answer is that Stonar has a unique ethos. There is a 'can-do' attitude that equips each pupil to make exceptional progress. This attitude to life, alongside the warm, friendly atmosphere and excellent teaching underpins our pupils' success.

For over 100 years Stonar has educated girls to take a confident and effective place in the world. As that world has changed, so has Stonar. Now we are offering the same ambitious, personalised upbringing to boys as well.

Boys are now integrated in Years 7, 8, 9 and 12 and we will continue to develop coeducation throughout the Senior School and to be fully co-educational by 2019.

Stonar is a small school that is part of a much bigger international group, offering each pupil wide opportunities. We know every pupil very well; and they know us, enabling us to help each individual to progress academically and personally to achieve more than they thought possible.

Pupils have opportunities here that may pass them by in bigger schools. Life at Stonar is very active with many opportunities for everyone to take part: Your child will be playing in a team, performing in a production, following their own particular interests in our co-curricular programme and crucially, be getting attention from our staff to foster their academic progress.

At Stonar we set high standards, and we expect everyone to aim for them.

Do come and see how we blend the best of traditional and new.
